Although the Business Web Factory offers you two quick ways to start your website with either the “10 minute home page” or the “7 week blueprint for success” we are committed to the long term approach to create sustainable growth for your business and your website.
Six months after you’ve created your website you should take fresh look at it and give it a health check up. Try and be as honest as possible and ask yourself these five key questions.
- Is it meeting your purpose? – Is it increasing your visibility or delivering the leads that you need? If not then take another look at your front end marketing strategies.
- When was it last updated? – When did you last add new content? When was the time before that? This will show how fresh your site is through the eyes of your customers. If it’s not updated then it won’t attract repeat visitors. To solve this problem you should schedule some new content as soon as possible.
- Does it have the look and feel you really want? – If you’re unhappy with the graphics then it may be time to invest in your site. Click here to find out how.
- What else would you like it to do? – Websites should grow with your business and after you created your initial website you may want it to do more. Resist the temptation to add in additional modules just because they’re there but instead focus on what more you could offer your customers.
- Finally, take you customers’ tour! - This can be an extremely revealing exercise if you truly go through all the steps a website visitor could experience. Think about the different ways that they could arrive at your site and what do they see. Look at where they would go next and where you want them to go. If there’s a difference in that, or you reveal in gaps or dead ends then you should look to resolving them.
If you’re serious about your website then you should give it this 5 point health check every six months and then take any action required to make those improvements.
