Menus are the main way through which your visitors find their way around your website.
There are three main menus in a Business Web Factory Drupal website and you can add your own.
- The “primary links” menu is also known as the top menu and is displayed at the top of the screen. This should be kept to a minimum and restricted to the main pages.
- The left menu is the menu where all your content categories, and sub-categories, should appear. This creates a natural look and feel for your website.
- The footer menu appears across the bottom of the screen and should be seen as a quick route from the bottom of the screen to the home page and other major pages.
To manage the menus…
- Select Administer from the left menu
- Find Site building on the right hand side of the screen
- Click on menus.
Creating a Custom menu
- Click the Add menu tab
- Enter the Title The new menu will not appear until it has one or more items.
To add a menu item to an existing menu.
- Click on the list tab and find the menu you want to add the item to.
- Click on Add item
- Enter the title – this is the name of the menu item that you want to appear.
- Enter the path to the page to be displayed.
- Select a weight to decide where in the menu it will appear. Remember that items with a light weight (minus number) will float to the top and heavy items (plus numbers such as 9 or10) will sink the item to the bottom of the menu.
Copy and paste the path if you want the item to appear in more than one menu.
